Our good friend and beertender will be moving to Columbia on March 23rd so we want to have a nice farewell party for him. I figured we might as well show an embarrassing photo of the both of us, since he is anti Facebook and most likely won't see this. (BTW this photo is eight years old when i thought long hair was cool and Ian couldn't grow any facial hair) Come by and say your goodbyes as the 21st of March will be his last day. His beer knowledge and mustache will surely be missed! ... See MoreSee Less

One of our favorite reps "Steven VonGrimm" now works for Back Pew! We will be hosting a pint night featuring:

Blue Testament-
It may be the lightest of Back Pew’s offerings, but don’t call it a lightweight. Although this Pilsner may be our most approachable beer, it’s still crafted with passion to bring out the best in its every unique element. Nowhere else will you find a brew that combines traditional German flavors with the sweetness of Texas blue corn to create a light but rich experience. Every sip is like divine intervention on your palate.

Sweet Salvation-
Some things in life aren’t meant to be understood, only to be enjoyed. Sweet Salvation is one of those things…we like to describe it as a paradox in a glass. It’s a Brown Ale infused with a Porter’s qualities, it’s light despite a dark appearance, and its complex flavors craft a simple character. If dark, intense flavors don’t move you, give yourself over to the sweet taste of coffee and chocolate, balanced with the nutty notes of roasted grain. It’s everything we love about fall…in liquid form.

Black Habit-
We know black habits as the garments of pious people…but they can have a sinister air about them. That’s the spirit of our German-style Schwarzbier – it has the look of a Sinner, but the heart of a Saint. While it’s light and pleasant on the palate, the roasted grains bring a rich and complex character into the mix. Black Habit is also sessionable, so you can easily indulge in as many rounds as you please.

Satyr's Swill-
Brewed in a traditional German style, this deceiving bock drinks like a lighter beer, but conceals a dark nature. Just like its namesake, the Satyr’s Swill lures you in with a hint of sweetness before revealing its true potency. Feel free to let the flavors overtake you, but be cautious…the Satyr seeks your soul.

Act of Balor-
The Back Pew Sinners are a dark and wicked lot, but we're not afraid to venture further down the path of the damned. That's where we find Balor, the destructive demon of Celtic lore whose works inspire brews that leave a lasting mark. When you pour a pint of our imperial milk stout, his spirit is unleashed in a sweet rush of roasted grains and black coffee flavors. This Act of Balor is the stuff of legend, but keep an eye open, for we may not have seen its full potential just yet...

Taplist will include:
Cigar City -
Jai Alai - a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt whilst the ball travels at speeds up to 188mph! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dubbed this game, with its ball traveling at racecar speeds, “the merry game.” Tampa was once home to a bustling Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. Pair Jai Alai India Pale Ale with beef empanadas, deviled crabs and other spicy dishes.

Guayabera - Traditional throughout Latin America, the guayabera shirt combines style, functionality, form and tradition in it’s four-pocketed design. We at Cigar City feel the same reverence and appreciation for the guayabera that we do for the Citra hop varietal, an ingredient that imparts notes of tangerine, lime and berries to this traditional American Pale Ale. The exclusive use of Citra hops in this beer creates a flavor that’s at once unique and recognizable, while it’s dry, crisp character and moderate alcohol make it as refreshing and functional as a crisp linen guayabera.

Lager - Inspired by traditional German lagers, our Tampa-style Lager is brewed with German malted barley, Hallertauer hops and an authentic Bavarian lager yeast. We combine these ingredients to create a style that’s quite unique to our hometown of Tampa, Florida but will find admirers wherever a crisp, dry and flavorful lager is called for. Familiar to generations, it’s truly a beer that’s made for drinkin’.

Oskar Blues - Dales Pale Ale, Mamas Lil Yella Pils, and IPA

Buy a beer keep the glass, as always Cole "Half Pint" will be here to chat about their new brews.

Cigar City Brewing's partnership with Oskar Blues ushered in a new era of growth for this Florida-based organization, with new markets and technologies on the horizon. Since inception, CCB has won numerous awards and accolades commending the high-quality beer they consistently produce.

80s & 90s sexy trivia, five rounds covering topics from the 80s & 90s with a “sexy” slant. Topics include power couples, film, music, and fashion from both generations. Teams can be up to four people, and “interesting” prizes awarded for the top three teams. There will be a few prizes from Adam & Eve, nothing too over the top. We also encourage everyone to wear 80s & 90s fashion items for inspiration.

Beers on tap will inlcude:

Biru Bear Lager- This is a dry rice lager, very loosely based on Asahi. Along with mostly Czech Pilsner malt, its uses 15% flaked rice, which lends a very drying feeling on your tongue without contributing too much flavor or color. We hopped in generously with Sorachi Ace, a hop first developed by Sapporo Brewing in Japan. We used Sorachi Ace in the boil along with Hallertau Blanc and Magnum, and dry hopped it with a small dose of Sorachi Ace to boost the aromas of lemon citrus, mint and spicy dill. This lager is unfiltered, has some haze, and malt body to balance out the hop bite. Biru means Beer in Japanese.

Luchesa Lager and Slow Ride Pale ale will be on tap as well.
